Hello all, and welcome to Café Beanie! I hope you're all as excited as I am about this brand-new Beanie Baby fan/news website, and I hope you all brought your opinions, too. In the very near future I will begin to start posting news and other Beanie-related updates, and then you are all very welcome to add your own comments about these current events.
It seems to me that Ty is starting to release some items that might just be putting a bit of a spark back into collecting Beanies... And maybe a spark back into Ty, Inc., itself! With the addition of Beanie Boos and Li'l Ones we've had a lot to look forward to recently.
Check back soon (say, tomorrow) for more. I have a feeling that the April releases are right around the corner. Plus, I've already got lots more news to share with you!

ReplyDeleteI'm just so disappointed with the original Ty site. They do not keep the lists updated, for example: I'm still waiting for the Cleo key clip and Buddy to appear and lots more. I just wish they'd keep the site current. -Vtigna
ReplyDeleteI think Ty would be a lot more successful at "sparking" the hobby if the Beanie Boos line weren't a direct copy from another toy line. Ty needs to be original, not just poorly made imitations.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you back online. The new Ty releases are interesting, but the new lines (Boos and Li'l Ones) seem to be targeted directly at very young children. Somehow, I can't imagine collectors battling over a Li'l One on eBay 10 years from now. I hope Ty doesn't forget all about the "adult" collectors.

ReplyDeleteI beg to differ about the Beanie BOOS. Original? Maybe not. Inspired by another line? Yes. Poorly made. Not at all. The fabrics used for the BOOS are some of the best Ty has used. There's a notch above Beanie Babies 2.0, that's for sure, which may have been once of Ty's worst ideas yet.

ReplyDeleteHey! I'm thrilled to finally see a Beanie-related blog with an RSS feed. Nerds like me have a difficult time getting Beanie news as it happens (although I have been using Google's "generated feed" feature to read Doodle's Page lately as well).
ReplyDeletePersonally, I've been rather disappointed with the past few years of new Beanie releases. It doesn't help that they're getting harder to find at retail now too - the mediocre designs just aren't as popular, and thus the stores stock fewer Beanies in general, and the whole thing spirals to the point where it's barely worth checking for new ones at retail. The difficulty of tracking down the designs I do like has all but shut me out of the hobby (fortunately, enough older Ty goodies have shown up on eBay at low prices recently that I can fill in my collection on that end).
Good luck with the blog! If you stick with it and keep this going for a few years, it may end up being exactly the sort of Beanie site I've been looking for.

ReplyDeleteTo answer that last question: Yes. Apparently the 2.0s floundered. And it appears that some 2.0s are being re-made into normal Beanies.

ReplyDeleteAs a long time collector, I also have to say I'm not a fan of the Baby Boos or the 2.0's. I felt like the Beanie Babies had more personality than these new lines. I'm with Dan. It is harder to find the ones that you do like. A lot less stores are selling the new ones and if I find one that does, they only carry a few.

ReplyDeletePersonally,I like beanie boos. They have super cute eyes, their made from fabric like silk and their quite durable! The only thing that I dont like is the fact that their very simaliar to yoo-hoos sigh I wish ty weren't copy-cats:(
